APPLICATION FOR FULBRIGHT HAYS GROUP PROJECTS ABROAD (GPA) TO TANZANIA

 Eligibility and Criteria for Selection of Participants:

A participant must be (i) a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, (ii) Social Studies, Humanities, Performing Arts, ESOL, Math/Science, Business, Education, School Principals, Curriculum Coordinators, K-12 full time teachers or college/university faculty, (iii) graduate students, undergraduate junior or senior students who intend to teach in the future in modern foreign languages or area studies.

Submission: POSTMARKED by Friday, February 7, 2025.

Applicants need to submit: (1) fully completed application with non-refundable (cashier’s check only) fee of $100.00 made payable to AIRHD; (2) typed essay: two- three pages, double spaced describing reasons for applying including how you plan to use the experience you acquire in Tanzania to improve African area studies curriculum in your classroom or school districts and your willingness in making make presentation in your schools, district, regional, state and national conferences, as well as qualifications for participation in the program; (3) participant’s contribution fee of $1,000.00 in  cashier check only to defray costs not covered by the US Department of Education or AIRHD including (a portion of a round trip airline ticket, local transportation in Tanzania, some entrance fees to museums and tour guides, arrangement of 1 or 2- day homestay with local teachers, teaching supplies, pre-departure orientation and follow-up seminars, etc.); (4) two professional letters of recommendation from the school principal/Department head or supervisor; (5) a resume or curriculum vitae; and (6) unofficial transcripts of undergraduate and graduate work only for students.

Deadline to submit all application materials is POSTMARKED by Friday, February 7, 2025.

Selected Candidates

Notification of selection of candidates is Friday, March 21, 2025. 

*Upon selection, candidates are required to make Payment of $1000 on Friday, March 28, 2025

*Final selections are subject to approval by the U.S. Department of Education, Washington, (April 2025 TBA). 

Selected participants must attend a 4-day Pre-Departure Orientation scheduled on June 4-7, 2025, at AIRHD office 1726 Montreal Circle, Suite 210 Tucker, GA 30084.

 Travel Information

Tentative date for travel to Tanzania is June 17, 2025 – July 22, 2025.
